We are so happy to be back in person with everyone.

It's been great catching up with old friends and making new ones since opening back up in May.

For the safety of our community you will also recieve table service from our fantastic volunteers, so you can just sit back and enjoy the chat.

Chair exercises have resumedon Tuesdays and Table Tennis is back too.

We have been meeting since 2011 and on average, 120 people drop in over the two days each week.

Far more than just a café - everyone who comes through our doors remark on the sense of community here. It's possible to eat out every day of your life and still not have a real conversation with anyone. But not here! We pride ourselves on the commitment and efforts of our volunteers and regulars, who always ensure that everyone who walks through our doors are always welcome and made to feel a part of our community from the first visit onwards.

We offer many activities such as chair exercises, Indoor Kurling, Short Mat Bowls and Table Tennis. Some people choose to play Scrabble or card games for fun. However, most of us just love eating lunch together, meeting new people and having a blether!

Our café offers tea, coffee, juice, soup, toasties, filled rolls, biscuits, fruit bread, yogurts and more. All at very reasonable prices.

Everyone is welcome, so please come along and join us. Experience the Gateway Buzz!

Enjoy some food

We have lovely fresh soup made in house, a selection of toasties and filled rolls to choose from.

For those looking for a lighter bite there is also fruit bread, biscuits, yogurts, and grapes.

Join us for a nice cuppa and a chat.

Our Volunteers

We said a big thank you to all our volunteers during National Volunteers Week June 2019 by treating them to a meal.

Our generous volunteers give up their time to serve the growing community within Lyle Gateway. They ensure that everyone is made to feel welcome and valued.

Beyond preparing and serving food, our volunteers are interested in the people that come into Lyle Gateway, their lives, past and present, and if possible how we can help.

Community Garden
Some of you will already be aware that we had been planning a Community Garden before lock down. We are delighted to share with you that we successfully secured 3 years funding for the project. We see this as an opportuinity to include even more local people within our community that we are building.

This will not just be a space for young and old to come along to grow vegatables, herbs and flowers but also a space to socialise and eat together.

Our garden will have amongst other things an outdoor pizza oven and a platform for sharing stories and songs.

We will be having cooking classes to put all that fresh produce to good use.
